Looking for a nice drive and day out, why not explorer slightly further afield? Below are a few ideas with a few route highlights, there always more locations to stop and explore in the highlands. Remember to always check on seasonal ferry, shop and attraction opening times before you set off.

Why not book a return ferry to Tarbert? With the Calmac Ferry only 5 miles away, getting a return ferry on the same day and exploring the Callanish Stones, Stornoway and Uig sands beach where the Lewis chessmen were found is a great day out.
Glenelg and Knoydart
An Otter hide, Iron Age Brochs, a turn table ferry and a view of the Knoydart peninsular sound interesting?
The Applecross Peninsula
Views back to the Isle of Skye via one of the highest passes in Scotland.
Mallaig, Glenfinnan Viaduct and Fort William
Harry Potter fan? Why not catch the ferry from Armadale and catch the Jacobite Steam Train (used by the Hogwarts Express) crossing the Glenfinnan viaduct and visit Fort William, you can then either return via the ferry or loop around via the Kyle of Lockalsh.
